BTS made headlines recently for appearing at the 76th United Nations General Assembly in New York. Not only were they personally introduced by the South Korean President Moon Jae-In, nearly 1 million audiences across the world tuned in to watch them live. With a platform of such scale, the boy group not only chose to encourage the ‘COVID generation’ all over the globe, but also wore custom-made suits from a sustainable fashion label called RE;CODE.

RE;CODE is a Korean brand that prides itself in making clothes from upcycled fabrics. According to their Instagram post, the brand explained that the suits were made from “Kolon FnC’s stock clothes and environment friendly-fabrics”. As climate change becomes one of the most pressing issues in today’s age, the group also addressed it in their UN speech, with member J-Hope stating that it is an evolving subject with no definite conclusions.
However, we can be sure that promoting a sustainable brand on a global platform is one of the best ways to start. RE;CODE’s motto is “to create a new culture of value in place of waste”. We are sure ARMYs are proud to be participating in such a creation.
